Building my online course: Wrapping it up!

This has been a busy week of working in CourseSites to complete the first half of my course, which is listed in the Outline for Week 3 I posted last week. Briefly, the items added this week include the following:

  • About EDML Fundamentals of Learning module
  • Course Syllabus
  • Course Calendar
  • Getting Started module
  • Discussion Board forums – Introduce Yourself, Student & Faculty Lounge, Week 1 & 2, with prompts

In addition, I’ve been fine-tuning the course materials and double-checking all of the course links to make sure everything is working properly and accessible for the learners. I also updated a few learning goals in the 3 column table that you can find in the course syllabus. The 3 column table, creating the syllabus, and our textbook for this course, Teaching in a Digital Age: Guidelines for designing teaching and learning, have been instrumental throughout my course design and have helped shape my learning activities and assessments.

Next, week I plan to have the entire course completed in CourseSites and I’m really looking forward to feedback on what I’ve done so far. Below is an outline of the last half of the course I plan to add by the end of week 4.

Outline for Week 4 – Completing the Course

  • Complete Discussion Board Forums
    • Weeks 3 -5, with prompts
  • Complete Course Assignments
    • Create Assignments Weeks 1 – 5
    • Input Assignment instructions
  • Choose collaboration tool for synchronous meetings
    • Set up selected collaboration tool
    • Input synchronous meeting instructions for learners
    • Test collaboration tool

Please feel free to self-enroll in my course to see the final course design as it wraps up next week. Here’s the instruction sheet on how to sign up!
